“Skill Market” creates a space where traditional crafts can be preserved, shared and adapted for contemporary use. It brings together master craftspeople and the public, opening up new ways to learn and pass on skills.
In 2027, the platform focuses on three areas: “Master in the Classroom”, where applied‑arts masters strengthen their knowledge and demonstrate their craft; “Skills Laboratory”, offering masterclasses from February to April at the “Dārza iela” Centre for Applied Arts (Dārza iela 4/6, Liepāja) in collaboration with the “Liepava” Studio of the Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Centre, masters from studios “Zītars” and “Kursa”; and a (co)working event that encourages collaboration and skill‑sharing between masters from different fields.
On 22 – 23 May, during the Līva Village Festival in Seaside Park, Symposium: (co)Working II will focus on international exchange. As part of the event, kimono masters from Japan will visit Liepāja with an exhibition on the traditional Edo‑period Yuzen technique.
