On Wednesday, 22 October, the Great Amber Concert Hall in Liepāja will host the international conference “Cultural Renovation”, organised by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation (Liepāja 2027).
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation is opening applications for an international youth training and mentoring programme for the 2025/2026 academic year, aimed at young people aged 14 to 24 from Liepāja, South Kurzeme and Kuldīga.
On 9 September 2025 at 14:00, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation opens its doors at Dārza Street 4/8 and welcomes all to the masterclass “Eco-design in Events” led by researcher Kitija Balcare, Ph.D. (c.), who will guide us through the art of designing with responsibility.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage and artistic assets of both cities and the surrounding region, emphasizing their significance within Latvia’s broader cultural landscape.
35 cultural organisations – the main partners who will form a significant part of the Liepāja 2027 programme and start their activities already in 2025 – came together to meet, share ideas and outline the path towards collaboration.
To enrich the programme of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 with innovative, cross-sectoral, contemporary and outstanding cultural events, hence boosting the international cooperation, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation is launching an open international competition for the co-financing of cultural and artistic initiatives. The deadline for submissions is 10:00 a.m. (EEST/Latvian time) on 10 September 2025.
Kristaps Priede works in painting, sculpture, and environmental art, which includes Land Art and Site-specific Art, where artworks are created for a particular location. In addition, Kristaps also engages in performance and photography.
On 16 August 2025, Liepāja 2027 youth filled the Mad Liepāja festival with their energy, creativity, and ideas.
At the beginning of August, the Liepāja 2027 team visited České Budějovice – Budweis – which will be the European Capital of Culture in 2028.
