Liepāja 2027 Heads to Tallinn Music Week 2026
On 11 April, Liepāja 2027 will take to the stage at Tallinn Music Week 2026’s City Stage to present the concept of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027: (un)rest.
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation is currently seeking several professionals to join its team as it advances the European Capital of Culture programme. The Foundation is announcing new job openings and inviting applications for the positions of Chief Accounting Officer, Producer, and Technical Director.
The Chief Accounting Officer will be responsible for organizing and managing accounting processes in accordance with applicable regulations, planning and overseeing the budget, preparing financial and annual reports, as well as ensuring the timely submission of tax declarations, payroll calculations, and other required reports. The role also includes financial document control, reporting on received funding, and the execution of other accounting tasks as defined by law. This is a full-time position with a gross monthly salary of €2200 before taxes.

The Producer will be responsible for developing and implementing production plans for Liepāja 2027 events, ensuring that projects are delivered in line with the set budget, timeline, and requirements. Duties include preparing the necessary documentation, obtaining licenses, collaborating with involved parties, delegating tasks, and overseeing processes to ensure high-quality event execution. The gross monthly salary for this full-time position is €1600 before taxes.

The Technical Director will be responsible for the technical execution of Liepāja 2027 events by developing technical solutions (stage, lighting, sound, scenography, etc.), planning and coordinating technical schedules, as well as preparing specifications and cost estimates. The role includes organizing event setup, coordinating cooperation with service providers, overseeing equipment usage, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements. Additionally, the Technical Director will conduct risk assessments, prepare technical plans and reports, and implement creative ideas in technically feasible ways, finding solutions even under limited resource conditions. This is a full-time position with a salary of €1800 gross during the probation period and €2000 gross after successful completion of probation.

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation is tasked with preparing and implementing a diverse programme of cultural events as part of the European Capital of Culture 2027 initiative. The programme will run until 2028 and will encompass cross-sectoral activities that promote socio-economic growth, boost tourism, support the creative industries, and foster collaboration across public, private, and non-governmental sectors. It also aims to attract financial resources from European Union funds and private investors to ensure long-term benefits for the city and its community.

With this open call for artists to participate in the exhibition and symposium, the association “ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education” launches the project “ElektrON – The Future of Amber”, interpreting the heritage of amber—along with the future potential of other fossil materials—through a symbiosis of art and science, within the programme “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027”. Applications to participate in the project can be submitted by 23:59 on 19 April.
On July2, experimental music festival Skaņu Mežs will hold an exclusive mini-edition in the city of Liepāja, featuring musical acts and sound artists from Latvia, Japan, Norway, United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany.
