Throughout August, the “SAKA” Art Space in Pāvilosta hosts the international stone‑and‑wood sculpture symposium “Sea Salt”, featuring five artists. Sea salt creates one of the harshest natural environments – slowly eroding and reshaping everything it touches. This process becomes a metaphor for the artists’ works, which reflect on the Baltic Sea and its ecological challenges.
During the symposium, artists explore themes such as waste reduction, the impact of fishing and human ability to coexist in balance with the sea. Open lectures and masterclasses run alongside the creative work, prompting us to learn about stone and wood sculpting and their links to the marine environment.
On 28 August, the opening of the artworks will be followed by discussions, workshops, music, dancing and shared time by the sea.
