Starting June 1, Kuldīga will offer two new cultural tourism experiences focused on the town’s UNESCO World Heritage values.
The project is being developed in collaboration with the Kira Taiko Drum Studio and will premiere in the Liepāja Museum garden in spring 2027.
On Friday, June 12, from 17:00 to 18:00 everyone interested is invited to participate in an ideas workshop for the project “(un)Peaceful Path of Light: The Story of Aizpute,” which will take place at Pilskrogs, 20 Liepājas Street, Aizpute, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
On Saturday, June 13, as part of the public engagement projects of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the first Ezerkrasts Picnic will take place – a community gathering aimed at helping neighbours get to know one another, share ideas, and jointly shape the future of the Ezerkrasts neighbourhood.
On Saturday, June 6, the event “Together at the Bread Table”, organized by the association “Kuršu Kopiena”, took place in Rucava as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.

Activities are currently underway within the short-term networking project “Open Latitudes: Science, Heritage, and Future Arts in Relation to the Nordic Solstice”, led by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation. The project runs from 1 April 2026 to 1 April 2027.
At the end of May, the first international working visit of the Erasmus+ project “ECoC Youth Clubs” took place in the Czech city of Budweis, bringing together young people and project managers from three future European Capitals of Culture – Liepāja 2027, Évora 2027, and České Budějovice 2028.
On Friday, 29 May, at 17:00, the contemporary art exhibition Mierā! (At ease!) was opened in the courtyard of cultural centre “Wiktorija” Organised by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, the exhibition brings together artworks that explore creative practices of peacebuilding, and the works will appear at the storefronts of 36/38 Graudu Street in Liepāja, where they will remain on view until 29 June.
Liepāja 2027 is inviting two visual artists for a summer residency taking place from July 22 to August 19, 2026. The works created during the residency will become part of the programme of the project “Lāčplēša Garden Festival,” a partner of Liepāja 2027. Applications accepted until: June 14, 2026
