On Sunday, August 23, a special atmosphere filled the premises of the Liepāja Lithuanian Society “Rūta” on Alejas Street in Liepāja – a concert featuring minority communities was held there, bringing together associations and ensembles of various nationalities to celebrate the diversity of culture, traditions, and friendship.

The international theatre festival “Theatre in Close-Up,” held as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, was opened by the Klaipėda Drama Theatre with the performance “The Return.”

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has concluded its co-funding competition for cultural events that will become part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme. Of the 27 project proposals submitted, nine have been selected for support, with a total of 352,793 euros allocated for their implementation.

For four days – from Thursday, August 20, through Sunday, August 23 – theatre enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience performances, discussions, director’s sketches, play readings, and much more!

Under the theme “Cultural Growth: People”, the fourth Kurzeme Culture Forum will take place on 10 September at the Kazdanga Parish Cultural Centre as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme. The event will bring together cultural professionals, enthusiasts and everyone interested in the development of culture.

As part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra’s annual summer musical journey – the South Kurzeme Festival “Rimbenieks” – concluded on Sunday, 16 August, with a spectacular concert at Kazdanga Culture Centre.

Liepāja 2027 continues to implement the project “Fact. Fiction and Democracy” and invites young people aged 14 to 30 to apply for the Summer Academy, which will take place in Liepāja on 22 and 23 August. The training sessions will take place at the Promenade Hotel.

On Saturday, 15 August, Liepāja 2027 visited Riga to join residents and visitors in celebrating the city’s festivities and to introduce the upcoming Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme.

On Saturday, 15 August, Karosta hosted the seventh Lāčplēša Garden Festival, with this year’s theme being “Peace in Karosta”.
