Rock the Rock: Open Call for Co-Financing Projects to Shape Liepāja 2027

4. February, 2026

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation (Liepāja 2027) has announced an open co-financing competition for projects that would add a spark to the core Liepāja 2027 programme series “Rock the Rock” in 2027.

The competition’s goal is to get Liepāja’s cultural venues and organisations on board to help shape the “(un)rest” programme, making sure there’s a great cultural offer. It’s all about giving creative people the freedom to experiment, teaming up with cultural organisations and professionals from all over the world, and bringing fresh, interdisciplinary projects to life. There is a big focus on getting the public involved and making culture available to a wider and more diverse audience.

Priority will be given to projects that revisit, “rock open” and reinterpret Liepāja’s alternative culture, rock heritage and subcultural traditions, transforming them into imaginative, internationally accessible and compelling events or event series. Selected projects must be implemented in Liepāja between 1 February and 31 May 2027.

The total funding available through the competition is 50 000 EUR, provided by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and the Liepāja City Municipality as part of the European Capital of Culture programme development. Applications are open to legal entities registered in the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia that are not state or local government institutions, nor state- or municipality-owned limited liability companies, including public derivative entities.

Applications must be submitted by 7 April 2026 by completing the electronic application form available on the Liepāja City Municipality e-services site:
