Oulu (Finland), a partner city in the European city network CreArt 3.0, has launched an open call for the immersive media art residency “We Are All Role Models”, which will take place at the Tiima Museum and Science Centre from 16 November to 17 December 2026. Professional media artists and interdisciplinary artist duos from Liepāja are also invited to apply.
During the residency, the selected artist or artist duo will develop a concept, demonstration version or prototype for an immersive and spatial media artwork designed for the VISIO experience space. Its technical solution is based on Ars Electronica’s Deep Space concept, combining large-scale wall and floor projections, spatial sound and interactive technologies.
The residency explores the themes of tolerance, inclusion and a sense of belonging. Artists are invited to highlight young people’s voices, values and courage, while using creative approaches to encourage dialogue about equality, community and possible future scenarios.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to professional media artists and interdisciplinary artist duos who were born, live or work professionally in one of the CreArt 3.0 partner cities, including Liepāja. Applicants should be prepared to develop their idea during the residency in response to the spatial and technological possibilities offered by VISIO.
Applications must be submitted in English by 1 November 2026 at 23.59. Detailed information about the residency, application requirements and required materials is available on the open call webpage: creart2-eu.org
