On Friday, 29 May, at 17:00, the contemporary art exhibition Mierā! (At ease!) was opened in the courtyard of cultural centre “Wiktorija” Organised by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, the exhibition brings together artworks that explore creative practices of peacebuilding, and the works will appear at the storefronts of 36/38 Graudu Street in Liepāja, where they will remain on view until 29 June.

Liepāja 2027 is inviting two visual artists for a summer residency taking place from July 22 to August 19, 2026. The works created during the residency will become part of the programme of the project “Lāčplēša Garden Festival,” a partner of Liepāja 2027. Applications accepted until: June 14, 2026

The contemporary art foundation Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa invites young artists to apply for an open call for a five-week residency in Venice, Italy. Application deadline: 30 June 2026.

The City of Clermont-Ferrand in France invites artists to apply for an open call in which three visual artists will be selected for a two-month residency at Chalet Lecoq. Application deadline: 21 June 2026.

On Saturday, June 6, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the event “Together at the Bread Table” will take place in Rucava – a creative, hands-on, and heartfelt gathering for residents of all ages.

From June 12 to 13, 2026, the International Symposium “ElektrON – The Future of Amber” will take place in Liepāja and Pāvilosta as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme. The symposium will bring together artists, researchers, curators, and cultural historians from Latvia and abroad to reflect on the significance of amber and other fossil resources in culture, the economy, and humanity’s relationship with the environment.

The Center of Excellence in Arts Education (MIKC) Liepāja Music, Art and Design Secondary School (LMMDV), as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, continues to implement the “Craft + Design” project and invites interested participants to attend two public guest lectures.

From 21–22 May 2026, Liepāja welcomed the Évora 2027 team for a working visit, continuing to strengthen cooperation and develop shared initiatives on the road to 2027, when both Liepāja and the Portuguese city of Évora will hold the title of European Capital of Culture.

On 23 May, as part of the International Museum Night celebrations, the youth-organised adventure walk “Night Mission –Secrets of Kuldīga” took place in Kuldīga.
