The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has launched an open invitation for farms and households within the Liepāja, South Kurzeme, and Kuldīga municipalities to participate in a specialised masterclass cycle titled “Midsummer on the Farm”.
From 27 February to 1 March, participants from the youth programmes of Liepāja and Tartu came together for the mid-term activity of the “Youth Connect” project, funded by the Interreg Estonia–Latvia programme, in the border towns of Valga–Valka.
On 27 February, the ceremonial “Liepāja Culture Award 2025” event took place at the cinema Kino BALLE, where the city’s most outstanding cultural events and personalities were honoured.
“Illuminated Liepāja: Deliberate Modesty” invites residents and visitors to experience the city transformed by light artists over four evenings — 18, 19, 20, and 21 March, from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm.
In the summer of 2027, from 9 to 15 August, the international choral music festival EUROPA CANTAT will take place in Liepāja, Latvia, bringing together about 3,000 participants from across Europe and around the world.

On Wednesday, 25 February, Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 revealed the first part of its wide-ranging programme “(un)rest”, which will unfold across Liepāja, South Kurzeme and the Kuldīga regions. The programme brings together music, contemporary art, interdisciplinary projects, public engagement initiatives and community-based activities.
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has announced the launch of an open microgrant competition “The European Dream in Our Community!” fostering a community spirit and European identity. This initiative will engage local communities through interactive activities and creative workshops.
From 20 to 21 February, the Steering Committee and Music Commission of “Europa Cantat” visited Liepāja to begin preparations for the 22nd International Choral Festival “Europa Cantat 2027”, which will take place in the summer of 2027.
