Wind and Wave-Powered Sound Installation Festival “Atmospheric Waves”

“Atmospheric Waves” explores wind as a planetary force and energy that shapes landscapes, weather and human experience. Through sound art and listening, the festival opens a conversation between art, science and society – and Liepāja, with its coastal climate, becomes the ideal setting for this dialogue. The programme includes an international exhibition in the city’s public spaces, workshops, sound walks and a symposium organised with CENSE (The Central‑European Network for Sonic Ecologies). Five environmental installations will remain in the urban environment until the end of 2027, drawing attention to invisible atmospheric processes and climate change. The project’s results will be gathered in a digital catalogue.
