“Illuminated Liepāja” Festival of Lights

Liepāja is defined not only by wind, but also by light – from picture perfect sunsets on the beach to shimmering sunrises over Lake Liepāja, charging people with new and positive energy. Each year, the city marks its birthday on 18 March with “Illuminated Liepāja”, a light‑art project that signals the end of winter and the start of brighter days.

In 2027, a festival of lights with its favourite walk of light will include new works by well-known international artists. The event blends art, technology and innovations, opening new and extraordinary visual perceptions to the city’s streets, squares and building façades.
