One of the keynote speakers will be iconic American photojournalist David Burnett, whose career spans over five decades capturing world news, people, and the visual rhythm of our era. Burnett has photographed global figures such as Bob Marley, John F. Kennedy, Barack Obama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Augusto Pinochet, and Bill Gates. A recipient of nearly every major photojournalism award, he has also served three times on the World Press Photo jury. American Photo magazine named him one of the “100 most important people in photography.”

One Day in Latvia is a unique documentary photo initiative that began in 1987, when more than 74 photographers documented Latvia’s everyday life in a single day. In 2007, the project returned with over 400 participants, capturing a new era and societal changes. Both editions became significant cultural and historical records, published in book form. The next installment is planned for 2027, continuing its legacy with high artistic and documentary value.

The photo conference and One Day in Latvia are organized by the association VienaDiena.lv with the support of the insurtech company Balcia.

The creative partner of the photo conference is the cultural space Ola Foundation, with additional partners Promenade Hotel and Art Hotel Roma, in collaboration with the Liepāja 2027 Foundation.
