Performance Programme “Embodied Empathy” – HOROS Dance Festival in Liepāja

The HOROS Dance Festival arrives in Liepāja as a movement seeking space, and as a space that moves people. Founded in Aizpute as a local meeting platform, it has grown into an international contemporary‑dance event exploring the relationship between body, space and human connection.

The 2027 theme, “Embodied Empathy”, puts the body front and centre as our main way of taking in the world, treating dance as a playground shaped by bumping up against people, objects, nature, and the places around us. It sees empathy not just as a warm feeling, but as a real action showing up, tuning in, and being completely present with each other.

Curated by the team of IevaKrish and Elizabete Palasiosa (Story Hub), the festival takes its name from the ancient Greek words χορός (dance) and χώρος (space), reflecting the synergy between movement and environment, continuing the work of the dance organisation “Tuvumi”.
