On October 3, 2026, Sansusī will host “Salmon Evening in Kuldīga” on the banks of the Venta River, offering a full day of activities centered around the theme of salmon spawning protection. The event program is tailored to a wide range of interests, including activities for children and young people, workshops, and discussions, as well as a concert of contemporary classical music in the best traditions of Sansusī evenings.
“The Song of the Salmon” is an interdisciplinary cultural and environmental preservation project aimed at raising public awareness about the protection of salmon populations and reducing illegal fishing in Latvia’s rivers. The project combines music, educational activities, and local community involvement to create an experience that both entertains and educates.
The project includes several key activities:
- creative workshops in Kuldīga (2026–2027), featuring artists, biologists, young people, and local residents;
- bonfire concerts and storytelling evenings;
- and a concert series along the Venta River (2026–2027);
- research and educational campaigns supported by digital tools to engage the public in salmon protection;
- as well as the creation of a sustainable stage and the use of nature-friendly solutions.
