From 29 September to 1 October, representatives of Liepāja 2027 took part in an ECOC Echo project partner meeting in Chemnitz, Germany.
On October 9, 2026, in Liepāja, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, an open-air photography exhibition titled “One Day in Liepāja 1987–2007 – 2025,” which, through images taken in three different years, will reveal the life of the city and its people over the course of half a century.
On Wednesday, 30 September, the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 Supervisory Board held its latest meeting, during which Board members were updated on progress to date, the implementation of the programme and preparations for the key events of 2027. On Friday, September 25, in the community room next to the Purmsāti Library, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, a meeting took place between artist Anda Lāce and students from Mežupe Elementary School.

he Liepāja 2027 Foundation invites everyone to contribute to The Fabric of Reality, a new artwork by internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, by writing a personal letter that will become part of her installation. Until 16 October, visitors can write their letters at a dedicated letter-writing station on the first floor of the National Library of Latvia.
As part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the journey of the new cultural and environmental project “Lašu dziesma” (“Salamon Songs”) will continue in Kuldīga on 3 October.
From September 28 to October 3, Liepāja will host the media art and technology festival “UPDATE: Democratic Technologies” as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
