Liepāja announces 2026 cultural projects grant competition

Representatives from different cultural and artistic fields, including interdisciplinary and creative industry projects, are invited to participate. Submissions for the competition, in order to be considered for financial support, will be accepted from 12 January 2026.

An open call invites artists from Liepāja to submit proposals for the Solstice Festival in Finland

The festival will take place from 18 to 20 June, and this year’s theme is “Transformation,” offering opportunities to experiment with light, landscape, and social context. Application deadline: 3 February 2026.

Open call for artist residency in Kaunas, Lithuania

Kaunas invites four visual artists from the CreArt 3.0 Network to participate in a six-week residency at Kaunas Artist-in-Residence (Kaunas AiR), taking place from May 4 to June 14, 2026. The program is open to painters, photographers, and new media artists. Application deadline: 2 March 2026.

11 International Contemporary Art Events to be Added to the Liepāja 2027 Programme

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has concluded its co-financing competition for international contemporary and multi genre art events, which was announced in June 2025. As a result of the competition, 11 projects with a total value of EUR 640,000 will be supported and implemented across Liepāja, South Kurzeme and the Kuldīga regions in 2027.

The Portuguese city announces the open call “Our Lab” welcoming creative minds to submit works in theater, dance, music, circus, street art, opera, architecture, design, new media, and cross-disciplinary projects. Deadline for applications: January 13.

he city of Oulu, Finland, invites visual artists to apply for an open call to present an exhibition at Galleria MABD during the 2026 European Creativity Month. The exhibition will run from 6–31 May 2026, with the opening on 5 May 2026. Application deadline: 5 January 2026.

The City of Valladolid invites emerging artists to submit projects for the “CreaVA 2026” festival

The city of Valladolid, Spain, has announced an open call and invites illustrators, photographers, and new media artists to submit their projects for the 13th edition of the “CreaVA 2026” festival, which will take place from April 24 to May 30, 2026. Application deadline: January 18.

Photographer Pauls Rietums will represent Latvia in an international residency project in Japan

In July 2025, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, in cooperation with the Japanese non-profit organisation “EU – Japan Fest,” invited Latvian photographers to apply for the international residency project “European Eyes on Japan | Japan Today”. 64 photographers submitted applications, and 15 of them were shortlisted for the second round.

Applications are now open for an artist residency in Bavaria, Germany

CreArt invites artists from the project network to take part in an inspiring residency in the vibrant city of Regensburg. The residency will run from January 19 to February 15, 2026, as part of RAiR – Regensburg Arts in Residence, a program. Application deadline: December 7.

The goal of the residency open call is to invite artists to innovate and develop impressive installations for subarctic conditions, and create an art piece for the official art program of the Frozen People festival 2026. The residency will take place from January 28 to March 3, 2026. Application deadline: December 12.
