“Liepāja Blossoms!” Plant Exchange Point

To inspire the local community to create a greener, more colourful city, the Liepāja 2027 invites all Liepāja residents to take part in the “Liepāja Blossoms”. As part of this ongoing city greening initiative the next stage – a plant exchange will happen on Thursday, 1 May.

This is a chance to share the beauty of nature, swap plants with fellow gardening enthusiasts, and contribute to making our city greener and attractive. Whether you have extra plants to give away or are looking for new ones to brighten up your surroundings, the plant exchange is the perfect place to connect with like-minded residents. Participants can also leave plants as a gift to the city, which will be collected by a gardener and planted in public spaces on 9 May. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance Liepāja’s urban landscape in celebration of the city’s 400th anniversary.

Liepāja 2027 Board Chair Inta Šoriņa invites everyone to take part in the event: “Liepāja Blossoms! is all about creating a greener, more beautiful, and flourishing city together. Bring your plants, visit the exchange, and connect with other gardeners. Even if you don’t have plants of your own, come along, see what’s on offer, and enjoy the activities we have planned.”

Throughout the event, experts will be on hand to share practical tips on plant care and urban landscaping, helping residents cultivate not just greenery, but also knowledge.

This initiative is made possible through a partnership between Liepāja 2027, the Liepāja Municipality’s City Utility Services “Komunālā pārvalde”, the Educational Department “Liepājas Izglītības pārvalde”, Liepāja Peter’s Market, LUX Express, and JSC Latvia’s State Forests (LVM) within the framework of Forest Days.

The campaign is funded by the Liepāja City Municipality and the Ministry of Culture.
