Call for Latvian artists: Apply for residency in Valga, organised by Tartu 2024!

A new opportunity for Latvian artists — our friends at Tartu 2024 invite artists and spatial practitioners to an international residency in Valga.

VARES is an interdisciplinary artist residency exploring alternative spatial practices beyond market-driven logic. This year, it welcomes architects, ecologists, artists, engineers, and other creative minds to engage with the dynamic relationship between water and land.

Residents will develop projects that integrate water into urban life through architectural interventions, installations, ecosystem enhancements, performances, and other artistic forms.

• Residency period: May 27 – June 30, 2025
• Application deadline: March 30, 2025
• Valga, Estonia (3.5h from Tallinn, 2.5h from Riga)
• Support: stipend, travel, and production budget
• Culminates in a public program (June 27–30)
