“Illuminated Liepāja: Deliberate Modesty” invites residents and visitors to experience the city transformed by light artists over four evenings — 18, 19, 20, and 21 March, from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm.

In the summer of 2027, from 9 to 15 August, the international choral music festival EUROPA CANTAT will take place in Liepāja, Latvia, bringing together about 3,000 participants from across Europe and around the world.

The foundation Liepāja 2027 is expanding its team and has announced four new vacancies, inviting applications for the positions of Public Relations Specialist, Sales Specialist, Procurement Specialist and Public Participation Project Coordinator. On Wednesday, 25 February, Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 revealed the first part of its wide-ranging programme “(un)rest”, which will unfold across Liepāja, South Kurzeme and the Kuldīga regions. The programme brings together music, contemporary art, interdisciplinary projects, public engagement initiatives and community-based activities.

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has announced the launch of an open microgrant competition “The European Dream in Our Community!” fostering a community spirit and European identity. This initiative will engage local communities through interactive activities and creative workshops.

From 20 to 21 February, the Steering Committee and Music Commission of “Europa Cantat” visited Liepāja to begin preparations for the 22nd International Choral Festival “Europa Cantat 2027”, which will take place in the summer of 2027.

On Wednesday, 18 February, the Kuldīga Youth House hosted the traditional Cultural Breakfasts organised by the foundation Liepāja 2027, bringing together representatives of the cultural sector, young people, and active members of the community from Kuldīga and the surrounding area.

From 13 to 15 February, the opening programme of the 2026 European Capital of Culture, Trenčín, took place in Slovakia. As part of the programme, the city curator Omar Mirza organised a discussion on culture as a driver of placemaking.

On Tuesday, 24 February, the Liepāja Latvian Society House invites the public to a donation and support campaign, as well as a charity concert, uniting in shared support to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience.

Sculptural artists are invited to apply for the SERDE Artist Residency in Aizpute, which will take place from 27 July to 9 August 2026. Applications are open until 31 March.
