From 27 February to 1 March, participants from the youth programmes of Liepāja and Tartu came together for the mid-term activity of the “Youth Connect” project, funded by the Interreg Estonia–Latvia programme, in the border towns of Valga–Valka.
Over the course of three days, the young people formed international teams, collaboratively developed ideas for international events, and planned their implementation. They also gained new knowledge in project management, event production, teamwork, and self-regulation, key elements for building a sustainable organisation.
On the final day, the groups presented their ideas to the jury and received valuable feedback to help refine their projects. The next step for the teams will be to prepare event proposals and budgets, which the jury will review to decide on funding for the implementation of their ideas.
The energy and enthusiasm of the participants is truly inspiring, and the ideas already generated stand out for their added value!
The project “Youth Connect” is supported by the Interreg IV-A Estonia-Latvia Programme 2021–2027, which aims to strengthen cooperation between the cross-border regions of Estonia and Latvia.
Project objective: to develop the skills and knowledge of young people in creating inclusive and international events. To this end, a joint training program will be created, resulting in at least two jointly created international cultural events and a network of youth cultural coordinators for cross-border knowledge sharing.
The total budget is 87 410,00 EUR, of which 69 928,00 EUR is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
