The 2026 European Capital of Culture Trenčín (Slovakia), in cooperation with the regional tourism organisation “OOCR Považie”, is announcing an open call for artists and artist collectives from around the world.
The call is being implemented within the framework of the “Landmarks” project, which aims to create permanent or long-term artworks in three locations in the Považie region of Slovakia. The aim of the project is to create artworks that respond sensitively to specific sites and foster a deeper connection between landscape, memory, movement, and contemporary perceptions of the environment.
Applications are invited that reflect the broader cultural and historical context of the region — Jozef Ludovít Holuby and his connection to landscape, botany, and the documentation of folk culture in Veľká Javorina, Dionýz Štúr and his contribution to geological research and understanding of the landscape as an archive of time in Beckov, as well as the glassmaking tradition of Lednické Rovne, which symbolises light, transparency, transformation, and craftsmanship heritage.
