On Saturday, August 22, from 13.00 – 16.00, in Aizpute, at Jāņa Street 10, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” all residents of Aizpute are invited to participate in a creative workshop for creating light installations as part of the project “The Path of (un)rest Light: The Story of Aizpute,” to make a light installation for their window to be lit during the dark time of year.
In June, an idea-sharing masterclass for the project “The Path of (un)rest Light: The Story of Aizpute” took place, during which representatives of the Aizpute community shared suggestions for creating light installations in the town. In August, residents of Aizpute will have the opportunity to vote for the light installation concept that resonates most with them. Meanwhile, the creative workshop will create light installations that will adorn the windows of Aizpute’s homes starting with the national holiday in November, weaving a unified story of light and creating a special atmosphere in the town.

The event is organized by the association “Aizpute Renaissance Society” with financial support from the foundation “Nodibinājums Liepāja 2027.” The programme of “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” is implemented by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, with funding allocated by the City of Liepāja, the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities, and the Ministry of Culture. The closing event for the second round of the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 community strengthening programme, “Neighbourliness”, will take place on Wednesday, 29 July, at the “Brīvības osta” hotel venue in Aizpute.
On 20 June, the Ventspils Street Community Festival took place in Kuldīga as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme. The event brought together residents of Ventspils Street, local community members, neighbours, friends, and visitors for a day dedicated to connection, shared experiences, and community spirit.
