Wooden Window Restoration Workshop
Sunday, 9 August, 10:00 – 14:00, in Alsunga, at the square by the Cultural Centre, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the wooden window restoration workshop will take place.
On February 6th and 7th, representatives from Liepāja’s cultural organizations, including the Great Amber Concert Hall, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Liepāja Theatre, Liepāja Puppet Theatre, and Liepāja 2027 gained invaluable experience and insightful advice from Icelandic cultural leader Vigdís Jakobsdóttir.
As the long-time artistic director of the Reykjavik Arts Festival, she has led numerous inclusive cultural projects, making art accessible to all community groups.
Through the techniques and tasks offered by the lecturer, participants had the opportunity to reflect on how to adapt Liepāja’s cultural offerings to the local context and how to create future steps to ensure everyone feels part of our city’s cultural life.
Vigdís Jakobsdóttir is the former artistic director and executive director of the Reykjavik Arts Festival (2016–2024). She is deeply committed to making art accessible to all and has implemented several initiatives connecting cultural institutions with marginalized communities, including children, immigrants, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ groups.
This activity is co-financed by the Foundation Liepāja 2027 in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
