Liepāja 2027 Supervisory Board Meeting Held in June
On 10 June, a meeting of the supervisory board for Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 was held at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
On June 11, Liepāja 2027 took part in the Kurzeme Tourism Conference 2025, which gathered tourism professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry experts at Skrunda Manor.
The Liepāja 2027 programme was highlighted as one of the key initiatives shaping and continuing to strengthen Kurzeme’s visibility on a broader scale. Liepāja 2027 director Inta Šoriņa shared insights on the city and region’s storytelling potential within the context of international tourism.
Highlights from the programme:
A key announcement came from the Kurzeme Planning Region, presenting a new competition for tourism entrepreneurs under the Light in the Dark project. The call invites the creation of new off-season tourism products, which will be piloted this autumn and featured in international digital materials as examples of inspiration.

From 8 to 10 June 2026, the open culture forum “Think and Do” took place in Oulu, Finland, the European Capital of Culture 2026, bringing together partners from the international network of the “Open Latitudes” project, supported by the Nordic Culture Point programme.
Liepāja Concert Hall Great Amber and The Andrejs Žagars Cultural Development Foundation on May 26, 2027 will present the legendary Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and its artistic director, the world-famous and beloved Maestro Andris Nelsons live in concert – featured in the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
