From 24 to 26 July, Klaipėda hosted its traditional Sea Festival – one of Lithuania’s largest summer events, attracting thousands of visitors from across the Baltic region every year since 1934. For three days, the city transforms into a vibrant meeting place where culture, music and maritime traditions bring together local residents and visitors alike.
Volunteers from Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 also took part in the festival, introducing Klaipėda’s residents and guests to the Liepāja 2027 programme. Through conversations with visitors, they invited them to discover the land of (un)rest – Liepāja – where culture, creativity and bold ideas come together to create a unique experience for everyone.
We were delighted to meet our neighbours, experience their enthusiasm and see their genuine interest in discovering Liepāja. Many shared plans to visit the city this year, while others are already looking forward to the cultural programme in 2027.

From June 5 to 7, “Liepāja 2027” travelled to the largest city in Latgale — Daugavpils, which this year celebrated its 751st anniversary.
Starting June 1, Kuldīga will offer two new cultural tourism experiences focused on the town’s UNESCO World Heritage values.
Johanna is working on a feature about the Baltic Riviera – a story portraying the Baltic Sea coast as a unique destination, in which Liepāja is presented not only as a place with a distinctive seaside rhythm, bold architecture, and a unique identity, but also as the future European Capital of Culture 2027.
