Liepāja 2027 signs significant agreement with the German Embassy in Latvia

1. April, 2026

On Wednesday, 1 April, a formal agreement was signed with the German Embassy in Latvia to support the project “Fact, Fiction, and Democracy”. The initiative aims to strengthen young people’s understanding of media literacy, democracy, and European values across Liepāja, South Kurzeme, Kuldīga, and Chemnitz (Germany).

The project will include a series of important activities designed to engage and educate young audiences. These will feature a Europe Day event in Liepāja, summer academies focused on media literacy for young people, as well as 15 interactive quiz-style games created and implemented by the association “Faktu Formula” throughout land of (un)rest.

As a concluding element of the initiative, the quiz games will be developed into a digital version. This online format will then be made available to educational institutions and youth workers in both Latvia and Germany, ensuring wider access and long-term educational impact.

The project is being implemented by the foundation Liepāja 2027 in close cooperation with the association “Faktu Formula” and Chemnitz, the European Capital of Culture 2025.

The total funding allocated to the project “Fact, Fiction, and Democracy” amounts to €37,200.
