Évora 2027 – European Capital of Culture announces an open call for artists from around the world

The Portuguese city announces the open call “Our Lab” welcoming creative minds to submit works in theater, dance, music, circus, street art, opera, architecture, design, new media, and cross-disciplinary projects.

Selected works will be presented throughout Évora and the Alentejo region in 2027 across a range of cultural, heritage, public, urban, and natural spaces, forming part of the official artistic programme of Évora 2027 – European Capital of Culture.

Funding and terms

  • Deadline for applications: January 13
  • Budget: 2 million EUR
  • Who can apply: artists, whether individually or collectively, as well as legal entities of a private or public nature, residing or headquartered in Europe (except Portugal) or outside Europe, with proven experience in the fields for which they are applying.

On August 22 of this year, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, Aizpute Renaissance Society organized a creative workshop “The Path of (un)rest Light: The Story of Aizpute” in Aizpute. Tickets on Sale for Sun & Sea – Golden Lion Winner Opera to Make Its Latvian Debut at Liepāja 2027

One of the most celebrated works in contemporary European performance is coming to Latvia for the first time. The internationally acclaimed Lithuanian opera-performance Sun & Sea (“Saulė ir jūra”) – winner of the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 2019 Venice Biennale – will be staged at Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall from 8 to 11 April 2027, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
