Open call for artists to participate in the festival “Atmospheric Waves” as part of “Liepaja – European Capital of Culture 2027”

The project “Atmospheric Waves” is looking for original concepts and ideas for sound artworks that would respond to wind and climate conditions in Liepaja, on the West Coast of Latvia. The competition is open for applications until September 4, 2026.

South Kurzeme Festival “Rimbenieks” Opens

On Sunday, 2 August, the South Kurzeme Festival Rimbenieks opened with a concert by the Baroque ensemble Sonore Antiqua at Grobiņa Lutheran Church. Until 16 August, audiences can enjoy a diverse programme of concerts in Bārta, Ziemupe, Aizpute, Gavieze, Medze, Vaiņode and Kazdanga.

Liepāja 2027 Concludes Public Participation Competition for Environmental Art Installations in Kuldīga and Aizpute

The competition aimed to encourage artists to explore both the shared heritage and distinct character of Aizpute and Kuldīga, resulting in two permanent environmental art installations forming part of the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme. Installations “Cloud Collector” (“Mākoņu kolektors”, Kuldīga) and “Passage” (“Virze”, Aizpute) were named the winning designs.
