For four days – from Thursday, August 20, through Sunday, August 23 – theatre enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience performances, discussions, director’s sketches, play readings, and much more!
Under the theme “Cultural Growth: People”, the fourth Kurzeme Culture Forum will take place on 10 September at the Kazdanga Parish Cultural Centre as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme. On Saturday, 15 August, Liepāja 2027 visited Riga to join residents and visitors in celebrating the city’s festivities and to introduce the upcoming Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme.
On Saturday, 15 August, Karosta hosted the seventh Lāčplēša Garden Festival, with this year’s theme being “Peace in Karosta”.
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has opened a call for project proposals under the “Neighbourliness” community programme, summoning residential associations, foundations and small businesses across Liepāja, Kuldīga and South Kurzeme to put forward ideas that bring communities together. The selected projects will become part of the official Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme. Application period: 13 August – 14 September, 2026.
On Saturday, August 29, in Vārme Parish, Kuldīga Municipality, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, a guided walk will take place in the Polīši Ravines — a place where the calm and energy of nature meet along forest trails, steep sandstone outcrops, and the lively flow of the Šķēde River.
To develop sustainable ideas for reviving historic sites, upgrade the region’s cultural and architectural routes, and strengthen cultural tourism across Kuldīga and South Kurzeme, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation has opened call, from 11 August 2026, for the “Manor House Hackathon” applications. It forms part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme and will take place on 29–30 September 2026 at the Laidu Manor.
