he library’s anniversary will be celebrated in 2027, alongside the events of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027.

On 27 January, Anna Priedola, creative producer at the foundation “Nodibinājums Liepāja 2027” (Liepāja 2027), and Kristaps Puķītis, programme partner from “Dirty Deal Audio” (association “Tālu skan”), took part in a creative industries networking event in Tallinn, organised by the CCI Contact Desk at the Goethe-Institut in Tallinn.

Karas Gallery, a contemporary art centre in Zagreb, Croatia, is launching the Karas+Kvart collaboration programme, bringing together local and international artists to create artworks inspired by the surrounding environment. Ap.plication deadline: 28 February 2026

On Saturday, January 24, the fifth meeting of the Liepāja 2027 youth programme took place. This time, the participants gathered at Pegaza Courtyard to learn the fundamental principles of strong team building and to strengthen their collaboration skills.

The aim of the initiative is to revive the tradition of handwritten letters and to build friendships with volunteers, their coordinators, and communities from other European Capitals of Culture.

On Friday, 23 January, participants in the “Neighbourliness” community programme, organised by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation (Liepāja 2027), took part in the workshop “A Sense of Community Through Movement”, led by movement artist Kristīne Brīniņa.

From 22 January to 29 January, cultural enthusiasts are invited to choose their favourite and vote for the Cultural Event of the Year 2025.

We are looking for a professional who will ensure full-cycle management and oversight of Liepāja 2027 programme projects — from budget planning and preparation of documentation to event production and implementation of collaborative projects.

The aim of the competition is to select a strong and well-developed exhibition concept that presents the work of Liepāja artists in a contemporary and multivocal way, while also putting it into a bigger European and global picture.

From 16 to 18 January, the Liepāja Region Tourism Information Office (Liepāja Travel), in cooperation with the Tourism Department of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA / Latvia Travel), took part in the international Nordic travel fair “MATKA 2026” in Helsinki.
