Liepāja blossoms — quite literally — as the Liepāja Blossoms! campaign is in full swing, celebrating the city’s 400th anniversary.
On 30 April, the foundation Liepāja 2027 launched its contemporary art exhibition “Concerns. Crazy Days” at Liepāja’s Peter’s Market, setting the tone with a performance that caught many visitors by surprise.
On May 4 at 12:00, in the spirit of the Day of Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, the Ziemupe Breakfast and the Opening of the Song Chest will take place in the centre of Ziemupe.
On Friday, May 2, from 13:00 to 17:00, Aizpute’s historical centre on Jāņa Street will come alive with the very first Old Town Festival. This new tradition embraces sustainable living and invites both local residents and visitors from nearby areas to take part in a vibrant and engaging celebration.
This autumn, the Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall will mark its tenth anniversary with a festival that encourages listening, humanity, and love.
On May 6 at 11:00, the results of the baseline study on the impact of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” project on various societal and economic processes will be presented in the Chamber Hall of the Great Amber Concert Hall in Liepāja.
Please bring all kinds of clothing, including larger sizes, to the specially prepared textile container provided by “Vides pakalpojumu grupa”. You’ll find it next to Liepāja Peter’s Market, Kuršu iela 5, Liepāja. We would very much appreciate if you made sure the clothes are clean, dry, mould-free, and in usable condition. The donated clothes will come to life during the opening performance of the exhibition “Concerns. Crazy Days” on 30 April at 16:00.
Liepāja 2027 warmly invites everyone to join the Europe Day Garden Festival “A European Dream in Our Backyard” on Friday, 9 May, designed to give residents of the (un)rest land a chance to explore European values, discuss cultural and social development, and get actively involved in greening their towns.
At the beginning of April Liepāja 2027 participated in the 11th Latvian Events Forum, where Zita Lazdāne, Head of Public Relations and Marketing, shared insights on unified communication and its importance for the city’s identity.
On April 8, the Chamber Hall of the Great Amber Concert Hall in Liepāja hosted a special concert uniting two European Capitals of Culture – Liepāja 2027 and Tartu 2024. Young musicians from Karosta Music School (Liepāja) and Tartu Valla Music School came together to offer a musical tribute to Liepāja, continuing the city’s 400th anniversary celebrations.
