Art Installations on the Ālande River Trail

February – December
Free entry

Along the scenic banks of the Ālande River, site-specific artworks unfold as quiet markers of natural change, inviting visitors to sense how past, present and future intersect within the coastal landscape. These works encourage us to see nature not merely as a setting, but as a counterpart – a companion, collaborator and bearer of memory.

Ieva Viese’s sculptural forms trace the echoes of fossil life as they surface within contemporary culture, while Krista Dintere’s interactive sound installation invites participation in interspecies cooperation, suggesting the possibility of restoring what has been diminished or lost. Rihards Vītols’ augmented reality work sketches post-biological evolutionary scenarios, imagining new ecosystems shaped by the interaction of technology and nature.

Together, the artists propose an exploration of ecological transformation through movement, attentive observation and the search for balance. The trail becomes a space for reflection, drawing inspiration from the diversity of the natural world and the complex relationship between humanity and its environment.

The aim of the project is to deepen understanding of the reciprocal influence between humans and nature by creating a place where art acts as a bridge between science, culture and personal experience within the landscape.
