International Symposium “ElektrON – The Future of Amber”

Amber has long been one of the symbols that has shaped the Baltic Sea’s international identity. The project ElektrON – The Future of Amber will open a call for innovative artists who merge technology and science in their creative practice. Together with researchers and historians, the selected artists will take part in an international symposium in Liepāja and Pāvilosta in May 2026, exploring the cultural role of amber and other fossil materials. During artist residencies, they will create works that reveal amber’s contemporary potential in bold and unexpected ways. These works will later feature in an exhibition at the Liepāja Museum, running from January to June 2027.
