From 6 to 9 October 2025, Justīne, the Public Participation Project Manager for Liepāja 2027, took part in the EIT Urban Mobility “Citizens on the Move 2025” training in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
This dynamic and collaborative program gathered urban practitioners from ten countries — including Portugal, Ireland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, Turkey, and Latvia — to explore innovative approaches to citizen engagement in urban mobility.
Over the course of three intensive days, participants worked alongside international experts and educators to address real-life mobility challenges from their respective cities. Through a combination of hands-on workshops, group exercises, and interactive discussions, they explored key topics such as:
- Co-creation methods for inclusive urban planning
- Storytelling techniques to better communicate urban change
- Participatory design tools that empower communities to shape their environment.
This experience not only expanded the professional knowledge of the Liepāja 2027 team but also provided an opportunity to build valuable connections with colleagues from other European cities, share experiences, and draw inspiration from successful practices in other countries.
It was a true joy to connect with participants, learn together, and form inspiring international friendships!
