Voting for Best Actors and Productions at Liepāja Theatre begins

Liepāja Theatre is announcing the commencement of its annual audience vote to determine the best productions and actors for the season. This tradition, that is very much loved by the public, entering now its 16th year and allows the audience to select their favourite actors in leading and supporting roles, as well as their preferred productions. For the 5th consecutive year, this event is being held in collaboration with the TIAMO Group. The voting will take place from 15 May to 10 June. It will be conducted electronically via the Liepāja Theatre website (www.liepajasteatris.lv) and hard copy voting forms will also be available at the theatre.

The results will be announced on 16 June after the performance of "Latvijas Raķetes." ("Latvian Rockets") The audience of this performance will be the first to know this year's results, which will then also be published on the theatre's website. This performance will also close the 117th season of Liepāja Theatre.

The productions included in the voting are: "Grieķi" ("The Greeks" - directed by Elmārs Senkovs), "Vairs Nevienu" ("No More" - directed by Dmitrijs Petrenko. A production that was created exclusively for the Valmiera Theatre Festival and was subsequently included in Liepāja Theatre's repertoire), "Svešā āda"("Foreign Skin" - directed by Inga Krasovska), „Patakoļako un teātra visums” ("Patakoļako and the Universe of Theatre" - directed by Mārtiņš Kalita), "Jasmīns" (Jasmin - directed by Dmitrijs Petrenko), "MAriači Ziemassvētki"("Mariachi Christmas" - directed by Mārtiņš Kalita), "Gaišās naktis" ("Bright Nights" - directed by Kristīne Brīniņa), "Latviešu raķetes" ("Latvian Rockets" - directed by Regnārs Vaivars), „Māja, kurā vīriešiem ieeja ir aizliegta” ("The House With No Men Allowed" - directed by Dž.Dž.Džilindžers), "Tēvs klusums" ("Father Silence - directed by Valters Sīlis), and "Ziloņa dziesma" ("The Elephant's Song" - directed by Dmitrijs Petrenko), which premiered only a week ago in the small hall of Liepāja Theatre.

Last season, the audience's favourite performance was the French comedy “Vārdiņš ("Lē Prenom," directed by Dž.Dž.Džilindžers), which continues to draw full houses. Inese Kučinska and Mārtiņš Kalita were honoured as the best actors in leading roles, while Everita Pjata-Gertnere and Kaspars Gods received awards for their outstanding performances in supporting roles.

In the second half of June, the professional assessment of the past season in all Latvian theatres will take place with the announcement of the Latvian Annual Theatre Award "Spēlmaņu Nakts."
