The results of the second cultural project competition have been announced.

On September 9, 2024, at midnight, the submission period for the second cultural project competition of 2024 ended. A total of 31 applications were received, with 16 projects awarded financial support.

The supported projects include events dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Liepāja, book publications, film productions, performances, and masterclasses. The submitted projects were evaluated by a committee consisting of eight industry professionals. The projects are scheduled to be implemented between October 7, 2024, and April 30, 2025.

The competition's jury included the Chairwoman of the Board of the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, Inta Šoriņa; the artist from the Liepāja Museum, Alda Škubura; the Head of Public Participation at the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, Maija Jankovska; writer Anda Kuduma; playwright and actress from Liepāja Theater, Laura Jeruma; the Chief Artist of Liepāja City Building Authority, Agita Ansule; Artistic Director of the concert hall "Lielais dzintars," Orests Silabriedis; and Deputy Head of the Liepāja Department of Culture, Nauris Lazdāns.

The priorities of this year’s second project competition focused on organizing events dedicated to the city's anniversary, promoting Liepāja's cultural values, and developing the creative industries sector. The aim of the competition is to support cultural diversity, encourage creative processes, foster active citizen participation, and stimulate innovation, thereby strengthening Liepāja’s cultural life and creating broader access to arts and cultural events.
