The city of Lublin invites two artists – one from Lublin and one from the CreArt network – to participate in a residency at Galeria Labirynt, which will take place from November 4th to December 6th, 2024.
CITY OF LUBLIN
Lublin is a medium-sized city in Eastern Poland and an important center for science and culture. Considered a crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures, in the past it was an internationally significant city with a large Jewish population. Lublin is home to numerous cultural institutions, museums, galleries, and non-governmental organizations that stimulate cultural life. Major festivals such as "Carnaval Sztukmistrzów," "Night of Culture," and "East of Culture – Different Sounds" are held here. Lublin is currently competing for the title of European Capital of Culture 2029.
GALERIA LABIRYNT
Galeria Labirynt is a modern municipal cultural institution focused on contemporary art. Established in 1956, it regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and offers various events, such as author meetings, film screenings, discussions on current topics, and workshops.
The gallery actively responds to the changing artistic and social landscape, organizing exhibitions that combine local and global elements, often attracting national and international audiences. The mission of Labirynt is to follow contemporary art trends, highlight significant phenomena, and uncover important contexts.
CreArt Artist Residency Program
As part of the CreArt 3.0 project, the city of Lublin and Galeria Labirynt are organizing a residency for two artists. Artists in residence will have a mentor to help them settle in the city (providing information about cultural institutions, events, useful places, etc.) and support in developing and presenting their project. At the end of the residency, the artists will present their works in an exhibition or performance, evaluated by both the local community and foreign audiences.
