Skopje 2028 announces an international Open Call to complement the programme

The 2028 European Capital of Culture, Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia), announces an international Open Call, inviting artists to contribute to the Skopje 2028 programme.
The artistic vision of Skopje as a European Capital of Culture considers culture as a driver of social cohesion, democratic participation, ecological responsibility, and urban transformation. The programme aims to reflect the city’s historic role as a place of encounter and solidarity.
Funding and conditions
- Application deadline: 29 March 2026 (CET 23:59)
- Submitted projects must correspond to one of the five thematic lines of the Skopje 2028 programme – “Art4Hope”, “Togetherness”, “rECOvering”, “CreARTing”, and “Heritage”.
- Projects must be implemented between 2026 and 2028. Project activity periods should range from 7 to 60 working days, depending on the scale of the project.
- The total funding available for the Open Call is €300,000. The maximum funding a single project can receive is €50,000.
- The call is open to individual artists and cultural professionals, artistic collectives, NGOs and cultural organisations, educational and research institutions, as well as international partnerships and European networks.
