From 8 to 10 June 2026, the open culture forum “Think and Do” took place in Oulu, Finland, the European Capital of Culture 2026, bringing together partners from the international network of the “Open Latitudes” project, supported by the Nordic Culture Point programme.
Liepāja Concert Hall Great Amber and The Andrejs Žagars Cultural Development Foundation on May 26, 2027 will present the legendary Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and its artistic director, the world-famous and beloved Maestro Andris Nelsons live in concert – featured in the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
On the summer solstice, Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 – 18:00 a community cleanup event will take place at Polīšu Ravine in Vārme Parish, Kuldīga Municipality, as a part of the public participation projects in the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
From June 5 to 7, “Liepāja 2027” travelled to the largest city in Latgale — Daugavpils, which this year celebrated its 751st anniversary.
As the countdown to the European Capital of Culture year continues, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation invites to explore the creative spirit of Liepāja, South Kurzeme and Kuldīga through a programme of summer events.
Starting June 1, Kuldīga will offer two new cultural tourism experiences focused on the town’s UNESCO World Heritage values.
The project is being developed in collaboration with the Kira Taiko Drum Studio and will premiere in the Liepāja Museum garden in spring 2027.
On Friday, June 12, from 17:00 to 18:00 everyone interested is invited to participate in an ideas workshop for the project “(un)Peaceful Path of Light: The Story of Aizpute,” which will take place at Pilskrogs, 20 Liepājas Street, Aizpute, as part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.
On Saturday, June 13, as part of the public engagement projects of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the first Ezerkrasts Picnic will take place – a community gathering aimed at helping neighbours get to know one another, share ideas, and jointly shape the future of the Ezerkrasts neighbourhood.
