Young People from Two European Capitals of Culture — Tartu and Liepāja — Meet in a Masterclass

A unique masterclass took place on Monday, 7 April at the Karosta Music School (Liepājas Karostas mūzikas skola) in Liepāja, where young musicians from Liepāja and Tartu 2024 – two European Capitals of Culture – came together.
Students from the Liepāja Karosta Music School and Tartu Valla Muusikakool worked with renowned folk music and improvisation artist Julgī Stalte, preparing for the upcoming concert “Cheers to Liepāja! Young Musicians from Tartu and Liepāja Unite in a Musical Tribute for Liepāja 400”, happening already today, Tuesday, April 8.
During the masterclass, young musicians not only honed their musical skills, but also discovered the power of music as a universal language – one that transcends linguistic barriers, unites traditions, and inspires collaboration. On this evening, Karosta Music School became a place where cultures, countries, traditions, and generations came together.
The masterclass brought together young talents playing instruments such as piano, violin, trumpet, saxophone, guitar, accordion, zither, and many more.
