This morning has started with heart-breaking and incomprehensible news all over the world, which makes it impossible to remain silent and to view Russia’s invasion of Ukraine without emotion. T
he people of Liepāja are with the people of Ukraine in their thoughts and in their hearts. It is beyond all comprehension that in the 21st century, Russia is waging a war in which, in the very first hours, fathers, sons, husbands, brothers have lost their lives and hundreds of innocent people have suffered terribly.
Experiencing something as insane as a war in a neighbouring country made (un)rest even more relevant today.
We all know that Ukrainians are fierce and true Patriots, blessed not only with fighting spirit but with great will. At the moment, there is a feeling that we cannot provide much more than the kind thoughts and words of support, but sometimes the emotional support of fellow citizens is even more important than material and physical help.

On Tuesday, 24 March, the “Lielais Dzintars” Concert Hall hosted the Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Conference, bringing together professionals from the tourism sector across Kurzeme.
From 17 to 20 March, Inta Šoriņa, Chair of the Board of the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, represented Liepāja 2027 in Tokyo, Japan, where the EU–Japan Fest “34th General Committee Meeting” took place.
