This year, the Illuminated Liepāja Walk is organised as part of Liepāja’s 399th birthday celebrations spanning over four evenings, on 15, 16, 17 and 18 March, from 19.00 to 23.00.
This year’s motto is “New Eyes!” – a chance to detour from your usual route and rediscover your city with new eyes. Just like before, this year’s installations will be created by well-known and acclaimed light and video artists from all over Latvia, with the technical support from the hands of experienced providers of tech equipment.
The leading theme of this year’s Illuminated Walk, which the light and video artists will be tasked with reflecting on, is a nod to one of the key navigation lines of Liepāja as the European Capital of Culture 2027 – “New Eyes!”. The Illuminated Liepāja Walk will include over 20 light objects. We will keep you updated about the route and the sights in a short time.
At the same time, on the eve of Liepāja’s birthday, on 18 March, at 19.00, the annual Liepāja Resident of the Year and Honour Awards Ceremony will take place at the Great Amber Concert Hall, honouring those eleven local residents who left a lasting footprint during the last year, and one honoured resident for their lifetime achievements.
We also have a great number of Liepāja cafes and restaurants who came up with the initiative to host a special Liepāja Birthday Dessert, among them bakery “Roma”, cafes “Sakta”, “Panna”, “Valhalla Wine & Coffee”, “Vējš Cafe”, wine bar/restaurant “Čello”, restaurants “Hoijeres krogs”, “Kapteinis”, “Maestro Design Hotel & Restaurant”, “MO Liepāja”, “Oskars”, “Parka Paviljons”, “Piano”, “Tik un tā” and burger restaurant “Pasta burgers”.
In addition, guided tours of the city will be available for you free of charge on following dates:
- Friday, 15 March, 19.00-21.00 – guides in Latvian,
- Saturday, 16 March, 19.00-21.00 – guides in Latvian and English,

Over 250 professional musicians to unite on stage for the grand finale of the Liepāja Concert Hall’s 10th Anniversary Celebration
On November 7 and 8 at 7:00 p.m., Liepāja Concert Hall “Great Amber” invites audiences to join the culmination of its 10th year anniversary celebrations, where a long-cherished dream will come true – the performance of Arnold Schoenberg’s romantic oratorio Gurre-Lieder.
Rock music from Liepāja and around the world echoed through organ sounds
On October 3, the first of two sold-out “Rock and Organ for Liepāja” concerts took place at Liepāja Lutheran Church. The audience enjoyed a unique mix of classical music, world rock classics, and Liepāja rock legends’ greatest hits, with organ sounds blending seamlessly with guitars and vibrant lights.
