The (un)restful Land Welcomes British Journalist from The Irish Post
As the European Capital of Culture year approaches, more international eyes are turning to Latvia’s western region. This June, experienced journalist James Ruddy explored Liepāja, Kuldīga and Aizpute – tracing stories of heritage, tradition and transformation.
Writing for The Irish Post, one of the UK’s most respected media platforms for culture and diaspora audiences, Ruddy captured the quiet power of the places and people shaping the (un)restful spirit of 2027.
From fortress walls and sea winds to thoughtful conversations with artists, historians and local visionaries – the journey revealed a land that holds its past with care while stepping into the future with purpose.
Organised in collaboration with The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and Liepāja Region Tourism Information Office, this media visit is part of our broader effort to share the story of this unique region with the world.
We’re already looking forward to meeting again – perhaps in 2027.
