This weekend, we attended the Chemnitz 2025 European Capital of Culture opening ceremony! Over two days, together with the ECOC Family, we explored Chemnitz’s rich and multifaceted history and culture.
With a city guide, we embarked on an insightful walking tour, visited the Industrial Museum and the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology (SMAC), and met skilled artisans in their studios, discovering the creativity of the region.
The highlight of the program was unforgettable — a grand opening ceremony at the Opera, followed by a public outdoor concert spread across five stages. Thousands of people gathered to enjoy this special moment, embracing the motto “C the unseen” to reveal the unseen.
This journey offered a priceless opportunity to step behind the scenes of a grand opening event — exploring everything from organizational challenges to the finer details that make each moment unforgettable. These insights will serve as a valuable guide as we prepare for Liepāja’s big moment in January 2027!
Thank you to the Chemnitz 2025 team for this cultural journey and valuable experience that enriches our path toward Liepāja 2027! May this journey bring Chemnitz unforgettable moments and great success!
