11. November, 2025

On Monday, November 10, in Grobiņa, at the Great Hall of the South Kurzeme Municipality Council, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation held an informational seminar about the cultural tourism co-financing competition “Land of (un)rest, Tell Us Stories!”. The event was attended by 63 participants.

The seminar brought together representatives from the business and non-governmental sectors, tourism companies, agencies, and tour guides, who showed great interest in developing new cultural tourism offers in the Liepāja 2027 region. During the seminar, participants received practical information on how to prepare project applications, the key aspects to consider when developing a project, and the evaluation criteria.

Inta Šoriņa, CEO of Liepāja 2027, encouraged project creators to follow the Accessibility Guidelines, Ecodesign Guidelines, and Communication Guidelines for Liepāja 2027 partners, which are available on the organization’s website. Participants were also invited to join forces and explore cooperation opportunities among organizations within the “Land of (un)rest, Tell Us Stories!” initiative to make their projects even more ambitious. Potential competition participants expressed interest in collaborating with some of Liepāja 2027’s main partners as well.

As announced earlier, the open call “Land of (un)rest, Tell Us Stories!” aims to add new dimensions to the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme by developing innovative and sustainable tourism experiences. The call invites projects that address the paradoxes of Liepāja, the heritage of Kuldīga, and the living stories of South Kurzeme – blending cultural heritage, contemporary creativity, environmental awareness and attracting both domestic and international visitors.

A total of EUR 90,000 is available in co-financing. Eligible applicants include companies, associations, and foundations not established by the state or local government, as well as individuals registered as economic operators. Each applicant may submit multiple project proposals and there is no limit to the number of projects each applicant may submit. The application deadline is 1 December 2025 at 23:59.

Competition documentation and detailed guidelines are available here
