Since August 2022, every Monday in Liepāja has started with a special recommendation – a book that another Liepāja resident has read and suggests. Our recommenders are as diverse as the city itself – students and teachers, entrepreneurs and artists, librarians and musicians. So far, more than 150 Liepāja residents have shared their thoughts on literature!
On September 18, at the Egons Līvs Award “People of the Coast” ceremony, we revealed something special – all these stories and recommendations have been collected, and a book “Residents of Liepāja Read” is in the making. It won’t just be a collection of recommendations – it will be the literary face of Liepāja: our thoughts, calm and unrest, breath and love for our city.
Just a little more patience – the final technical touches are being made before sending the book to print, and very soon it will see the light of day!
More than 500 events planned in the Liepāja 2027 programme
On Wednesday, 4 February, the fifth meeting of the Liepāja 2027 Supervisory Board took place at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, where key issues regarding the progress, achievements and next steps of the European Capital of Culture programme were discussed.
