Pierre Boulez’s centenary was celebrated at the “Great Amber” Concert Hall in Liepāja
On September 27, an unforgettable evening honoring the centenary of Pierre Boulez — the 20th-century revolutionary of contemporary music and brilliant composer — took place at the “Great Amber” Concert Hall.
The concert featured Boulez’s “Anthèmes II” for violin and culminated in the breathtaking “Répons”, bringing together classical instruments and cutting-edge electronics.
A big round of applause to Sinfonietta Rīga, conductor Normunds Šnē, and all the incredible artists and IRCAM specialists who made this extraordinary celebration of Boulez possible!
The concert “Pierre Boulez 100. Sinfonietta Rīga” was organised by SIA “Great Amber”. It was held as part of the Liepāja Art Forum project of the Liepāja 2027 program, with funding provided by the Ministry of Culture, the Liepāja municipality, and the municipalities of South Kurzeme and Kuldīga. On October 3, the first of two sold-out “Rock and Organ for Liepāja” concerts took place at Liepāja Lutheran Church. The audience enjoyed a unique mix of classical music, world rock classics, and Liepāja rock legends’ greatest hits, with organ sounds blending seamlessly with guitars and vibrant lights.
