Partners of the (un)rest programme meet in Liepāja for the second time

25. March, 2026

On Wednesday, 25 March, the second meeting of the (un)rest programme partners took place in Liepāja.

During the first part of the day, attention was focused on practical matters – reporting and funding procedures, as well as marketing and communication principles. This was followed by a presentation from Ieva Erta, environmental expert at “CleanR Group”, Liepāja 2027’s main partner in environmental education and sustainability, on creating sustainable events. Each programme partner is also required to follow at least three eco-design principles when implementing their projects.

In the afternoon, we drew inspiration from our partners’ experiences. Ilze Zariņa from the “Genius Loci Programme” highlighted the opportunities offered by the European Capital of Culture network to establish new collaborations with international partners from the Czech Republic and Japan. Meanwhile, representatives of “Europa Cantat 2027” shared insights gained so far from organising an international choral music festival. Representatives of the “City Story Walk” project in Kuldīga and the “One Day in Liepāja” photo campaign also provided an overview of upcoming activities.

We can only deliver the Liepāja 2027 programme together! It consists of projects developed by key partners, partners selected through open calls, and events produced by the Liepāja 2027 in cooperation with local and international curators. In total, more than 500 events are planned within the programme.

Thank you to everyone who is joining us on this journey!

The Liepāja – European Capital of Culture initiative is brought to life by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, working closely with the Liepāja City Municipality and official partners across South Kurzeme and the Kuldīga region. Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture. AS “CleanR Grupa” (JSC) leads the way as the main partner for environmental education and sustainability, while transportation company SIA “Lux Express Latvia” (Ltd) supports the programme as its official mobility partner.
