Open call for video projections in the “Port Paradox” graphics competition

As a part of the “Liepāja Illuminated” walk, from 17 to 19 March, we are organising a video projection graphics competition “Port Paradox” and welcome contributions from Latvian video artists and graphic designers, multimedia students, young people working with video graphics and other interested parties.
Entries will be judged by the public during the “Illuminated Liepāja” walk and the winner will receive a scholarship worth EUR 500. It is up to the video artists to choose the technique, colours and format of their work, although it is important to have delivered the coherent artistic message within 50 seconds – participants are encouraged to draw, film, use mapping techniques.

As already announced, from 17 to 19 March, from 19.00 to 23.00, the “Illuminated Liepāja” walk will take place in Liepāja. For three evenings, Liepāja residents and city guests will enjoy the luminous transformation of Liepāja and explore a captivating route of light objects on foot. This year’s theme is “Port Paradox”.
As it has become a tradition, the illuminated objects will be created by well-known and recognised light and video artists from Liepāja and all over Latvia, as well as experienced technical equipment companies that will provide the equipment for the installation of the objects.
Overall, we are bringing to your attention 17 illuminated objects, in addition to the Liepāja Radio and Television Centre tower at 6/8 Celtnieku Street and the Naval Forces illuminating the ships at Pier 84 with lasers and lights in the colours of the Liepāja flag.
