A new tradition has been born in Liepāja – the constellation of Latvian theatre festivals has been joined by a new international event: “Theatre in Close-Up”.
From August 21 to 24 theatre lovers enjoyed premieres, guest performances from Lithuania, Poland, and Finland, discussions, a children’s morning, and even a disco in the theatre courtyard.
The festival opened the Liepāja 2027 project strand “Open Theatre Quarter”, which invites new creative explorations and opens Liepāja Theatre to international collaborations.
The opening highlight was the premiere of “The Loneliest Sheep in the World”, followed by remarkable guest performances: “Fantazja”, “The Porno Horror Musical 2”, “Jumppatytöt+”, “Praeis”, and “Patina”.
“Theatre in Close-Up” has opened the doors to a new creative era in Liepāja and set the stage for more to come.
